Time to build and test the internal gear linkage.

First job is to make a blanking plate to cover the shifter hole in the floor and

 

Adding brackets to hold the shifter inside the car.

 

That seems to fit nice and snug.

 

Sort of fits in the car, but the bushings in the shifter are somewhat 'worn'. Think sausage in a shirt sleeve kind of loose!

 

Ebay kindly provided a decent replacement in exchange for a fistfull fo beer tokens, so I have something new to cut up

 

Cleaned up nicely!

 

Let's build an adjustable link rod this time round...

 

Chopped and ready for the rod.

 

Test assembly, ready to try in the car.

 

Bracket painted and bolted, shifter in place and rod connected. Now I'm not going to suggest the Princess box feels silky smooth, but there is no play in the linkage, so gears shift into place with the satisfying clunk of farm machinery :)
