Finally sold my other Mini and got my daily hack sorted, so now I've got some time and motivation to do some V8 mini'ing!
Today's action was, as usual, limited but I got the flywheel off and removed the damaged starter ring gear.

This had been causing starting troubles for some time. Actually found the ring gear wasn't sitting straight on the flywheel - not sure if this is cause or effect of the damage.
Also found the clutch release bearing had failed a bit...
I'm no expert but something tells me that's going to need replacing.
Later tried to fit the "new" ring gear, but failed. So progress haulted - I will put the flywheel in the freezer overnight to try and shrink it a bit! Meanwhile, this gives me a chance to go and find some new clutch bits!
