| A couple of pics of the new Mocal oil pump base, this has an improved pressure relief valve and allows the filter to be relocated somewhere more convenient. Not looking very elegant (like that's a surprise!), but the revision #1 of the internal gear linkage seems to work OK. The back of the remote is supported by the old bracket inverted and welded down, while the front is held in place by the original top rod cut & welded to the tunnel (quality bodge). With the Mollart joints at the far ends of the rod, the action feels pretty good, despite the steep angle at the box end. As there had been some interesting 'creaking' from the passenger foot well under hard acceleration, and the Hammerite on the floor was showing a couple of flex cracks I fitted a subtle 3mm thick spreader plate for the solid subframe mounts to bolt through. Just for good measure I welded it to the floor as well. Twin tail pipes with a gap between for a tow bar ?? At the moment the 2.5" boxes are fed from a single pipe, but the twin 2" pipes will be abck on soon... Not sure if these will be legal as they are :-) But the extra wide group 5 arches should sort that. |
