Jan 24th & 25th (04) Made a 'bit' of progress! Removed the Sierra axle from the van again, and got some serious work done making it into a 'proper' subframe that will carry the engine & gearbox as well During construction the suspension height has been set with some bits of 20mm box to get 100mm ground clearance under the sump at 'normal' height. The vertical bits are the uprights for the roll cage that will form a loop over the top of the engine, the suspension will mount to the cage, and the loop will be a convenient carry handle when lifting the whole lot with the engine crane :-) The font end is made from 3mm thick 50 x 100 mm box. With the modified pivot points from the Sierra axle are welded onto the ends Then the narrowed swing arms bolt straight on behind. |
